PowerSchool Parent Access Functions

Use PowerSchool Parent Access to view your students' grades, attendance, lunch balances, and course requests. You can also view teacher comments, read the school's daily bulletin, and set email preferences. Most pages in Parent Access include a printable version link that opens an additional web browser window. This window includes the information in a printer-friendly format.

Before you complete any of the following procedures, you must log in to PowerSchool Parent Access. For more information, see the section "How to Log In to Parent Access."

How to View Grades and Attendance

Use this page to view the grades and attendance for the student in the current term. The Attendance and Citizenship Code Legend page displays the attendance and citizenship codes and their meanings.

Note: Your school's codes and their meanings probably differ from those in the example.

  1. On the start page or in the main menu, click "Grades and Attendance," if necessary. The "Current Grades and Attendance" page appears.

  2. Do one of the following:
    • Click the name of the teacher to open a blank email you can send to that teacher.

      Note: To use this function, your web browser must be properly configured to automatically open an email application, and the email application must be properly configured to send email messages.

    • Click a grade in the Term column to view the Class Score Detail page.

      Note: If the items in the Category column are links, click a link to display the Category Description page, which contains details related to the category. If the items in the Score column are links, click a link to display the Score Comment page, which contains details related to the score.

    • Click a number in either the ABS or TAR column to view the absences or tardies for the selected class during this term. The "Dates of Attendance" page displays the absences or tardies.

    • Click a number in the Attendance Totals row for either the ABS or TAR column to view the absences or tardies for all classes during this term. The "Dates of Attendance" page displays all absences or tardies.

How to View Grades History

Use this page to view the grades for the student at the end of the previous term.

  1. On the start page or in the main menu, click Grades History. The Grade History page appears.

  2. Click a grade in the % column to view the Class Score Detail page.

How to View Complete Attendance Records

Use this page to view the attendance record for the student in the current term. The Attendance Code Legend page displays the attendance codes and their meanings.

On the start page or in the main menu, click Attendance History. The Attendance History page displays the student's attendance record for the current term.

How to Receive Automatic Email Progress Reports

Use this page to select which email messages you want to receive on a regular basis, including the student's grades, attendance, and assignment scores.

  1. On the start page or in the main menu, click Email Notification. The Email Notifications page appears.

  2. Use the following table to enter information in the fields:

    What information would you like to receive?

    Select any of the following checkboxes:

    • Summary of current grades and attendance
    • Detailed reports showing all assignment scores for each class
    • Detailed report of attendance
    • School announcements
    • Balance Alert: Displays when the student's account is low on funds
    How often? Use the pop-up menu to choose how often you want to receive the email messages selected above.
    Send now? Select this checkbox to immediately send the email messages selected above.
    Email Address(es) Enter the email address(es) to which you want the system to send the email messages selected above. Separate multiple addresses with commas.

  4. Click Submit. The Changes Recorded page lets you know that the changes have been recorded.

How to View Teacher Comments

Use this page to view any comments that teachers entered regarding items such as the student's achievement or behavior.

  1. On the start page or in the main menu, click Teacher Comments. The Teacher Comments page displays any comments entered by the student's teacher(s).

  2. Click the teacher's name to open a blank email message you can send to that teacher.

    Note: To use this function, your web browser must be properly configured to automatically open an email application, and the email application must be properly configured to send email messages.

How to View the School Bulletin

Use this page to view the daily school announcements.

  1. On the start page or in the main menu, click School Bulletin. The School Bulletin page displays any messages for the current day.

  2. Click the date for a different day to view that day’s bulletin items.

How to Register for Classes

Use this page to request classes for the next year and to view any existing course requests.

  1. On the start page or in the main menu, click Class Registration. The Class Registration page appears.

  2. Do one of the following:
    • Select the course(s) that you want to request for the next enrollment period. Click Submit. The Current Course Requests page appears.
    • Click "View current course requests." The Current Course Requests page displays any current course requests.

How to View Balances

Use this page to view lunch balance and fee transaction information for the selected student.

Note: If you are not able to access this page, contact your school for balance information.

  1. On the start page or in the main menu, click Balances. The Balances page appears. The Meal Transaction section displays the student's current lunch balance and each lunch transaction line item.
  2. Scroll down to the Fee Transactions section where the student's current fees balance and each fee transaction line item.
